Kuwait Municipality recognizes Zain for supporting environmental campaign

Zain was recognized by the Kuwait Municipality for effectively contributing to raising positive environmental awareness in the community. The recognition came during the special ceremony held to honor the support of all parties that contributed to Kuwait Municipality’s recent awareness campaign aimed at promoting public sanitation laws and encouraging the community’s support to keep Kuwait clean. The event came under the patronage of H.E. Minister of State for Municipality Affairs and Minister of State for Telecommunications Affairs Fahad Al Shula.

During the event, Acting Director General of Kuwait Municipality Soud Al Dabbous recognized Zain, represented by Corporate Affairs Department Manager Hamad Al Musaibeeh, for the company’s support to the Municipality’s recent nationwide awareness campaign. Zain’s support and contribution to the campaign reflected the private sector’s active role in partnering with the public sector to achieve the nation’s various developmental goals.

Zain contributed to the campaign by promoting awareness messages and introducing its customer base, the biggest in Kuwait, to the campaign’s goals. Such goals included familiarizing citizens and residents with public sanitation laws, encouraging the public to support the Municipality’s efforts in maintaining the health and hygiene of the nation’s areas and governorate, as well as removing construction, agricultural, organic and inorganic waste.

The campaign also aimed at informing the public of the Municipality’s schedules for collecting waste, how to correctly prepare waste for collection, encouraging general hygiene practices, encouraging the public’s support, and shedding light on the continuous efforts exerted by Kuwait Municipality’s personnel to serve the community.

Zain puts environmental sustainability at the forefront of its priorities, as its social message seeks to create a culture of sustainability within the community by advocating practices like reducing consumption, recycling, using renewable sources of energy, and more.

The company recently launched a sustainable community initiative to recycle used books and papers by providing containers in 10 different locations at Zain megastores and in Sabah Al Salem University City in Shadadiya. This initiative aimed at raising social awareness about the crucial topic of environmental sustainability, as well as providing real-world solutions to encourage the community to adopt positive practices that contribute to lessening the effects of climate change. The campaign coincided with the end of the academic year, where tons of books and papers are thrown away in waste bins.

In one of its recent sustainable projects, the company also presented its very own recycled shopping tote bags made entirely out of Zain’s outdoor billboard ads. The bags were offered to customers for their shopping needs in place of plastic bags to encourage sustainable shopping and raise environmental awareness.
