Strong growth for Russian streamer Wink

The Russian incumbent telco Rostelecom has for the first time released operating results for its streaming service Wink.

In a statement, it says that it is demonstrating strong growth and is one of the drivers of its B2C business. Its consolidated service revenue in H1, excluding the sale of subscriber equipment and non-core income, amounted to R13.2 billion (€123.4 million), or 9% more than a year earlier. At the same time, service revenue in the OTT sector increased by 95%.

Rostelecom adds that Wink has over 11.5 million active IPTV and OTT subscribers at the end of H1, or 11% more than a year. At the same time, the number of paying subscribers reached 9 million, 20% more than a year earlier. According to GfK, in Q2 2023 Wink was the second most popular streaming service in Russia in terms of paying subscribers.

Rostelecom also points outs that the number of partnerships Wink has with smart TV manufacturers continues to increase and in Q2 in was pre-installed on Hisense and Toshiba TVs.

The integration of Wink with Rostelecom’s services is also being developed and home internet subscribers can now pay for movies and TV shows with Bonus programme points.
