Mel Velarde’s NOW Corp has signed a contract with the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA) for the future deployment of digital infrastructure in the province. In a disclosure, the conglomerate said that, working with affiliate NOW Telecom, they intend to build out new infrastructure in Cagayan province to support fixed broadband, fixed wireless broadband and terrestrial satellite to meet the CEZA ecozone’s demand for reliable broadband connectivity.
‘This complements our efforts to develop CEZA as a critical hub of economic activity and technological progress not just for northern Luzon but for the entire country as well,’ CEZA Administrator Katrina Ponce Enrile was quoted as saying in the filing, as reported by CNN. Recall that in late-2022, NOW Telecom secured grant funding from the US government for the development of 5G networks and services in the Philippines.
