The Ukrainian regulator National Council has registered the first OTT platform in accordance with the country’s new audiovisual legislation.
Known as 1+1 Video, it is operated by 1+1 Media, one of Ukraine’s leading media groups. In other important decisions, National Council has excluded the Russian online service Tvigle from Ukraine.
It has also said that a number of companies, including True Channels and Star TV, have decided to abandon satellite distribution in favour of OTT and IPTV.
Some, including the broadcasters STB, OCE, Novy Kanal, ICTV and ICTV2 have also switched from the Amos-7 to Astra 4A/Sirius 4satellites, while TVS has moved to Amos-3.
