Satellite TV provider DirectTV announced its entry into the Ecuadorian fixed broadband market last week with the launch of consumer fiber-based packages. Intended to complement the company’s pay-TV services, the new ‘DFibra’ range comprises plans featuring maximum downlink speeds of 150Mbps, 240Mbps, 300Mbps, 400Mbps, 500Mbps and 1Gbps.
Announcing the launch, Fernando Ferro, Executive President of DirecTV Ecuador, said: ‘The company has a value-added development plan for the region through investments in technology and its own and licensed content, with the commitment to preserve cultural diversity in Latin America and the Caribbean in a highly competitive environment.’
DirecTV Ecuador is owned by Vrio, a multinational company that provides entertainment services and broadband connectivity across eleven countries in Latin America and the Caribbean under the DirecTV Latin America and SKY Brasil brands.
