Nigerian mobile operator Globacom has launched an LTE-A network in several major cities to increase the speed and reliability of its 4G mobile data services. The Guardian reports that more than 4,000 LTE-A mobile sites will be rolled out in major towns and cities across the country during this year. Globacom added that it has recently acquired additional spectrum in the 2.6GHz band to enhance the capacity and quality of its 4G network.
TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database states that Globacom is Nigeria’s second largest cellco by subscriptions with a market share of 28.7% as of 31 March 2023, well behind market leader MTN with 36.3% but just ahead of Airtel with a share of 28.5%.
