Azercell covers Nakhchivan City with 4G network

Azerbaijani mobile network operator (MNO) Azercell has announced the launch of a 4G network in the city of Nakchivan, as part of its large-scale network modernisation and expansion project. The company, the country’s largest MNO by subscriptions, is working to extend LTE coverage throughout the entire territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic by the end of 2023. Azercell’s subscriptions can exchange their old non-4G SIM cards for new ones at any of the company’s sales or service points. As a bonus, users will receive a complimentary one-time 5GB mobile data package.

Azercell started expanding and enhancing its network throughout Azerbaijan in August last year. Since then, the company has installed 126 new 4G base transceiver stations (BTS) and upgraded over 1,200 existing sites nationwide, covering the regions as well as Baku and the Absheron Peninsula. Within the framework of its network expansion project, Azercell plans to install more than 300 new BTS and upgrade about 1,600 existing ones.
