Argentina’s National Communications Agency (Ente Nacional de Comunicaciones, ENACOM) has authorised Project Kuiper – the Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite broadband venture that is being developed by US web giant Amazon – to operate in Argentina. The concession was issued to Amazon Kuiper Argentina on 9 May, via Resolution 560/2023.
Project Kuiper hopes to launch its first satellites in the first half of 2024 and will commence testing shortly after. The venture is mandated to launch half of its planned 3,236 satellites by 2026.
