Backing up the growing popularity of eSports and gaming in the Kingdom, the first FIFA 23 eSports tournament, Battle of the Schools’ hosted by stc Bahrain in partnership with the Bahrain Schools and Collegiate Athletic Association (BSCAA) has attracted participation from over 90 schools and hundreds avid gamers are now registered across the island.
The large-scale gaming competition offers a combined prize pool of US$20,000 to be distributed among the 16 finalist players, players across the age-group of 10-19, males and females, competing to set the high score. Schools and young gamers will be demonstrating their skills while working on their communication and sportsmanship. The semi-final qualifiers for the Best FIFA 23 player will be taking place from May 2 -9 via an interactive online gaming battle followed by a thrilling offline final round of gaming competition on May 13th from 10 am to 8 pm at the Avenues Mall.
Commenting on the tournament, Shaikh Zeyad bin Faisal Al Khalifa, Chief of Government Affairs Officer at stc Bahrain said, “We are thrilled to welcome hundreds of gaming enthusiasts from Bahrain to compete in a FIFA eSports tournament with the popularity of online gaming surging over the years. Taking part in this competition will be a very unique opportunity for gamers to learn more about gaming, interact with other gamers, and have a great time. We wish them the best of luck and look forward to a fun gaming challenge.”
Dr. Shaikh Saqer bin Salman Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Schools and Collegiate Athletics Association, affirmed that this championship is part of the Association's initiatives that reach the students of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the general sports objectives that our leaders have directed to provide various means for the growth of sports as one of the most important future economic and job creating sector.
