The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) has revealed that the country’s recently appointed central clearinghouse, Lanka Number Portability Services (LNPS), has opened the tender process for ‘the supply, installation, testing, and commission’ of number portability (NP) on the island.
As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, back in November 2022 Bharti Airtel Lanka CEO Ashish Chandra provided an update on the long-running saga to introduce fixed number portability (FNP) and mobile number portability (MNP), when he revealed that a new company ‘Lanka Portability’ had been created to act as the central company to handle it, and that all domestic service providers have a stake in it.
The deadline for applications is 30 May 2023.
