GTT partners with Wansat to deliver satellite connectivity across Guyana

GTT (Guyana Telephone and Telegraph) is partnering with domestic satellite firm Wansat to deliver satellite connectivity to Guyana’s rural regions.

Local outlet Kaieteur News reports that the companies have named their arrangement ‘Connectivity Anywhere’, pledging that unserved and underserved communities across Guyana will be able to access affordable and reliable satellite internet services.

GTT CEO Damian Blackburn said: “This partnership is a significant step towards achieving our goal of providing connectivity to every corner of Guyana. By expanding our network and leveraging WANSAT’s expertise in satellite technology, we can now provide reliable telecommunications services to customers in areas that were previously unreachable.”

The operator noted that the new connectivity would make it economically viable for the Ministry of Health to provide telemedicine services in Guyana’s most remote regions. In addition to healthcare initiatives, e-learning and online teacher training will be facilitated for the Ministry of Education.
