Funding of around SEK1.2 billion (US$117 million) will be made available in Sweden this year to support the expansion of rural broadband networks.
The country’s Post and Telecom Agency (Post & Telestyrelsen, PTS) is inviting applications from 17 May from operators, local authorities and community associations looking to expand fibre broadband networks to unserved areas. In 2022 almost SEK1.3 billion was allocated across 384 separate projects covering 33,867 premises.
