ITIDA launches Q4E training programme to boost employment in electronic design, embedded systems

The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has launched the Qualifying for Employment (Q4E) programme to enlarge the talent pool and develop the job skills needed for local and multinational companies in the fields of design, development, and production of semiconductors and embedded systems.

The Q4E programme comes within the framework of the “Egypt Makes Electronics” initiative (EME), a presidential initiative launched in 2018 and supervised by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), that aims to position the electronics industry as one of the key drivers for growth in the Egyptian economy.

The program is designed primarily to fit the hiring needs and skills demand in areas of electronic design, research and development (R&D), semiconductors’ manufacture, and embedded systems companies. Aiming at bridging the skills gap between supply and demand, ITIDA co-funds the programme expenses, whether implemented directly by the enterprises or through training providers.

ITIDA aims to encourage electronic design companies to expand their business and operations in Egypt in addition to attract more investment and enterprises to the Egyptian market, create more job opportunities in the IT sector, and ultimately increase Egypt’s digital exports, which hit USD 4.9 billion in 2022.

Electronics design is gaining traction in Egypt with steady growth boosted by the maturity, abundance of talent, and skilled local engineers. Last September, the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA), a leading industry organization that represents more than 300 corporate members on six continents, launched a new chapter: GSA Egypt, to strengthen and expand the semiconductor industry and ecosystem.

Leading multinational companies are already hosting their global R&D offices and centers in Egypt including STMicroelectronics, Siemens EDA, Mixel, ADI, GoodiX, TeLink, Valeo, T&S, Luxoft, MediaTek, and eInfochips.
