Danish service provider Nuuday has struck an agreement with fibre operator GlobalConnect Privat – formerly known as Onefiber – to make its YouSee and Hiper-branded TV and internet services available over the GlobalConnect Privat network.
The agreement means that YouSee and Hiper services will be made available to homes covered by the EQT-owned GlobalConnect Privat network across Denmark via OpenNet – a joint industry platform to open up fibre networks in the country backed by energy and telecoms provider Norlys.
OpenNet has brokered agreements between multiple fibre providers and service providers in Denmark.
“Our ambition is that all Danish households get the best products and the best connection at their address. That is why I am happy that we already have agreements with seven of the country’s largest fibre networks, through which we cover the majority of Denmark. The fact that we will soon also be able to offer flexible TV solutions and lightning-fast internet from YouSee via GlobalConnect Privat’s fibre network is another important step on the journey,” said Christian Morgan, director of YouSee.
Mads Hein, director of Hiper, said: “Hiper’s mission in the world is to deliver lightning-fast and reliable internet to our customers, and it is clear that fibre is an absolutely essential part of that mission. Therefore, it is also a high priority for us to continuously enter into agreements with new fibre network owners, so that we can offer even more households access to lightning-fast internet via fibre.”
Peter Bredgaard, director of GlobalConnect Privat, said: “In the past year, we have entered into collaboration to establish fibre networks for many areas where there is generally a high demand for products from YouSee and Hiper. For us, the agreement strengthens our market position and emphasizes that we have the right growth strategy. At the same time – and most importantly – it gives households on our fibre network even more options.”
Henrik Møller Nielsen, director of OpenNet, said: “Our platform is a link between many fiber networks and providers, and we are pleased to be able to enable another strong collaboration in the direction in which the industry is moving together – namely more open networks and more options.”
