The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has published the results of field measurements of the quality of mobile communications services in the wilayat of Bausher, and during the Empty Quarter Festival, and Muscat Nights in 2023.
TRA said that for Bausher, the highest 5G download data speed was provided by Omantel with 996 Mbps. The average download speed of data was 400 Mbps, and the highest download speed of data was 149 Mbps, which is an indicator of the average download speed of 45 Mbps.
The network delay rate was 37 milliseconds, while the video quality rate was 4.73 out of 5.
For Bausher, the 5G data download speed provided by Ooredoo was 433 Mbps, while the average data download speed was 177 Mbps, and the highest data download speed was 124 Mbps, while the average data upload speed was 124 Mbps. The average download speed was 33 Mbps
The network delay rate was 34 milliseconds, while the video quality rate was 4.74 out of 5.
The report also included the results of 4G coverage, where the highest data download speed for Omantel was 177 Mbps, the highest download speed for data was 54 Mbps, and the highest data download speed for Ooredoo in 4G coverage was 233 Mbps. The highest data download speed was 62 Mbps.
Empty Quarter Festival
The report included the 4G and 5G telecom services provided during the Empty Quarter Festival and the Muscat Nights.
The highest download speed of Omantel for 5G coverage in Al Qurum Natural Park was 516 Mbps, the highest upload speed was 68 Mbps, and the highest download speed in Al Naseem Park was 337 Mbps, while the highest upload speed was 68 Mbps at Oman Convention and Exhibition Center (OCEC). The highest download speed of Omantel was 2,557 Mbps, which is an exceptional and unprecedented speed, while the highest upload speed was 303 Mbps.
The highest 5G download speed for Ooredoo in the Qurum Natural Park was 464 Mbps, while the highest upload speed was 111 Mbps, and in Al Naseem Park, the highest download speed for Ooredoo was 425 Mbps, while the highest upload speed was 92 Mbps. per second, and at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center, the highest speed was 560 Mbps, while the highest download speed was 64 Mbps.
TRA conducts these surveys using specialized measurement tools and approved methodologies that simulate the user experience with the aim of raising the level of awareness of beneficiaries and enhancing competition in the sector.
