CST signs a memorandum of cooperation with the Ministry of Justice to establish a Mediation Office for dispute Resolution between Service Providers in the ICT Sector.

The Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) to establish a Mediation Office for dispute Resolution between Service Providers in the ICT Sector. The Mediation Office (MO) will offer its services through Mediation Certified Specialists who will perform mediation work and bring points of view closer between disputing parties. The establishment of MO aims to contribute to the maturity of ICT sector and promote investments in it by providing Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms to ICT service providers, as the Mediation settlement minutes issued by MO are of legally enforceable capacity, in coordination with the Ministry of Justice's Taradhi Center.

The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the International Conference on Justice, which was held in Riyadh. The Communications, Space and Technology Commission was represented by H.E. Dr. Mohammad Altamimi, CST Governor, while H.E. Najim Abdullah Alzaid, the Vice-Minister of Justice, represented the Ministry of Justice.

CST explained that MO services are in line with the Kingdom's digital transformation efforts, as all of MO processes will be completed through an integrated electronic system. CST also notes that all disputes between service providers will be resolved within 30 days of MO acceptance of the settlement request; in line with the best global practices, and in accordance with the Telecommunication and Information technology Act.

The establishment of MO will contribute to providing the executive arm to CST’s regulatory role of facilitating Mediation settlements between disputing service providers in the ICT sector, and will qualify a number of its employees to mediate such disputes.

MO establishment stems from CST’s commitment to fulfill its regulatory roles in enabling and promoting the ICT sector in the Kingdom in alignment with the governmental directions and in order to achieve CST’s vision and strategy.
