CME’s Voyo tops 0.5 million subscribers

Voyo, the SVOD service operated by Central European Media Enterprises (CME), now has over 500,000 subscribers in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

According to Slovakia’s Markiza, which is also part of CME, Voyo has also been the most popular streaming service in Slovakia for three quarters in a row, surpassing even global players such as Netflix and HBO Max. Markiza also points out that Voyo underwent a complete overhaul in 2020 and the 500,000 figure only represents viewers with a full subscription and does not include those who opt for a seven-day trial.

According to Markiza Group CEO Matthias Settele, “We have crossed another important milestone – half a million subscribers, which we are all very happy about. We consider Voyo to be one of the key projects of our digital transformation and I am very happy that it is doing well.

“Thanks to everyone involved in this success, and especially to our viewers for their trust and time spent in the company of attractive Voyo content. The ever-increasing number of subscribers only confirms that we are on the right track”.

Michal Borec, director of the marketing centre at the Markiza Group, added: “I am glad that the quality work of the entire team brings us such pleasant results that exceeded even our wildest expectations.

“What I am personally happy about is also the perception of Voyo as a primarily Slovak service that is a brave challenger to the competition and offers a good quality-price ratio”.

Broadband TV News notes that Voyo is also present in Slovenia and Romania.
