AMN signs NAAS deal with Orange Madagascar

Infrastructure supplier AMN Group has signed a Network-as-a-Service (NAAS) contract with Orange Madagascar to build a minimum of 500 mobile network base stations in rural areas of the country. The ten-year agreement will enable Orange to extend 2G and 3G mobile coverage to more than a million people in previously unserved areas, bringing social, economic and educational benefits including access to financial services offered by Orange Money. Work is already underway and a significant number of sites are expected to enter service before the end of 2023.

Commenting on the deal, Orange Madagascar CEO Frederic Debord said the operator is continuing to invest in its network infrastructure to improve coverage in rural areas, in line with the government’s programme to reduce the digital divide. Orange signed a similar NAAS deal with Canadian infrastructure supplier NuRAN Wireless last month for the deployment of up to 500 rural networking sites in the east of the country.
