Azerbaijani cellco Azerfon (operating under the brand name Nar) has announced the launch of 4G mobile services in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Whilst its LTE network coverage is currently limited to the city of Nakhchivan and the Agbulag tourism resort in Shahbuz district, the operator plans to double the number of 4G base transceiver stations (BTS) in the landlocked exclave by the end of this year. Commenting on the deployment, Nar CEO Gunnar Panke said: ‘Customer satisfaction is always at the core of our business. In this sense, providing high-quality mobile communications services not only in the capital Baku, but also in the regions is of the utmost importance for Nar.’
