MTN 4G launch rollout enters pilot phase

MTN Guinea has begun the pilot phase of its 4G network rollout and plans to collect customer feedback and implement improvements over the course of the month, Agence Ecofin reports.

The operator is set to deploy 36 sites across the greater Conakry area – serving approximately 13% of the population – before extending the network to 200 sites by June 2023 followed by further expansion within the interior of the country in H2 2023. Alongside the 4G deployment MTN is also planning to start modernising its existing network equipment from January 2023 to better serve the growing demand for data services.

As previously reported by CommsUpdate, MTN Guinea was awarded the nation’s second 4G licence in February this year.
