Bahrain and Egypt have reached an agreement to consolidate cooperation in space science and hold joint ventures in this field.
Transportation and Telecommunication Minister Mohammed bin Thamer Al Ka’abi and the Egyptian Space Agency Chairman, Dr Sherif Sedqi, signed a memorandum of understanding in the space sector.
It was signed on the sidelines of the 8th Arab Space Cooperation Group meeting which is being held for the first time outside the state of presidency. The meeting was opened yesterday by Al Ka’abi at Sakhir Air Base, with the participation of delegations from 14 Arab countries.
Sustainable sector
The Minister underlined the trend to establish a sustainable national space sector, pointing out the importance of the meeting’s recommendations and resolutions in serving the Arab space sector and boosting its existence at the international level.
He conveyed to the participants the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He hailed holding the 8th meeting of the Arab Space Cooperation Group, stressing the importance of the event in promoting pan-Arab work and achieving the aspirations of the member states for integration in various sectors, including the space one.
