Virgin Media O2 boosts fixed broadband speeds for existing customers at no extra cost

UK-based Virgin Media O2 (VMO2) has announced that it is increasing the speeds of two of its existing fixed broadband tariffs at no additional cost for end-users, in a move it claims will benefit ‘millions’ of customers. According to the operator, those currently subscribed to its ‘M100’ plan, which offers 108Mbps/10Mbps download/upload speeds, will be moved its new ‘M125’ tariff, increasing their speeds to 132Mbps/20Mbps accordingly. Meanwhile, customers signed up to the ‘M200’ plan will reportedly benefit from 24% increase in average download speeds – from 213Mbps to 264Mbps – while upload speeds on their new tariff, ‘M250’, will increase from 20Mbps to 25Mbps.

Commenting, VMO2 chief operating officer Jeff Dodds said: ‘[VMO2] set out with a clear aim to upgrade the UK, and giving millions of our customers enhanced value through our latest broadband speed boost is another step towards this … As reliance on connectivity continues to grow – and at a time when value matters more than ever – we’re proud to be giving our customers even more, on us.’
