stc participates as a main sponsor in 2022 ‘RunKuwait’

Kuwait Telecommunications Company – stc, a world-class digital leader providing innovative services and platforms to customers, enabling the digital transformation in Kuwait, announced its participation as the main sponsor in the annual fundraising marathon ‘RunKuwait’, organized by the Fawzia Sultan Healthcare Network (FSHN), a leading nonprofit healthcare organization in Kuwait that provides high-quality care across a number of clinical specialties.

The marathon will be RunKuwait’s 10th annual event and will was held on 29 October 2022 at the Marina Crescent, where stc was present as one of the main sponsors of the marathon that is dedicated towards supporting children with special needs. stc's sponsorship falls in line with the Company’s ongoing commitment to support and empower the community through diverse initiatives, while simultaneously focusing on several key areas defined under its CSR framework. Through its active contributing role, stc has participated in several similar initiatives that were organized to spread awareness and support a specific cause within the community.

stc’s sponsorship and participation included several healthy sports activities and held many competitions for the participants in the charity race and their families, where valuable prizes to the first place winners were presented by stc as well.

stc was honored by the organizing committee for sponsoring this humanitarian initiative and its prominent and vital role in the field of social responsibility. Anfal Abdel Rahim from stc corporate communications team who handled all aspects of this humanitarian initiative, represented the company during the honoring of the main sponsors of the charity race.

Danah AlJasem, General Manager of Corporate Communications at stc, said, “We are proud to participate this year in the 10th edition of RunKuwait marathon as a main sponsor. stc believes in the effective role of such events that bring the community together for a good cause. As stc’s participation in such initiatives is nothing but a moral and humanitarian, commitment to support children with special needs, as we believe that it is necessary to engage with every segment of the Kuwaiti society, especially those with special needs who are an integral part of the community.”

AlJasem added, “Throughout the year, we have participated and organized several initiatives that aimed to support and empower the special needs community. These initiatives are a reflection of the positive impacts our CSR program aims to spread within the community.”

AlJasem added, “Raising awareness on widespread causes and health related issues comes as a key pillar in stc’s CSR agenda. To create a larger impact, stc has partnered with various renowned entities within the public and private sector, such as Fawzia Sultan Healthcare Network, with the end goal of supporting members within the community. In this regard, and on behalf of stc, I would like to thank the organizers, fellow sponsors, and those who will be participating in this marathon to support children with special needs.”

AlJasem concluded, “Through its role as a leading pioneer in Kuwait’s telecom sector, stc highly supports the special needs community and the importance to collectively integrate this segment of individuals in various initiatives along with other segments of society.”

In line with its commitment to give back to the community, stc aims to progressively broaden and expand the initiatives organized under its extensive CSR program in various fields like health, environment, education, sports and youth empowerment.

In this regard, Tamar Dertavitian Director of Fawzia Sultan Healthcare Network (FSHN) stated,” Fawzia Sultan Healthcare Network (FSHN) is a nonprofit healthcare organization in Kuwait that provides high-quality care across a number of clinical specialties. Founded in 2006, we started as a specialized physiotherapy clinic, and pioneered a new standard of excellence within the field in Kuwait. To achieve this, we have launched a number of social driven initiatives aimed at raising awareness about the main health challenges in our community. She added,” RunKuwait, an annual 5K and 10K charity walkathon, is FSHN’s main fundraising event in Kuwait and has grown to be one of Kuwait’s most prominent charity events. The walkathon aims to raise funds for children of low-income families who do not have access to appropriate healthcare services. It raises both awareness and funds to support the Children’s Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center (CERC) - our non-profit dedicated clinic for children.”

Dertavitian concluded: "We thank the stc for its sponsorship of this humanitarian event, and we are confident that the Company's support and participation in the Run Kuwait Race will have a great impact in supporting children with special needs. Initiated in 2012, RunKuwait aimed to support the treatment of children at the Fawzia Sultan Children’s Center. Since then, the marathon gained a wide following base that led to raising more then KD50,000 in 2019 to fund over 2,000 treatment sessions for children. The marathon is open to the public, regardless of age or fitness level, with the main objective being to support a great cause. Participants can select the 5k or 10k distances based on their preferences and complete the marathon and their own pace. The registration fee paid to participate in the event will be donated to support the children with special needs
