RTL+ to launch in Hungary

The Hungarian national commercial broadcaster RTL will shortly launch the streaming service RTL+.

According to the company’s CEO Gabriella Vidus, the subscription-based, ad-free service “will be the only platform on the market that specifically aims to provide local Hungarian content to its subscribers. It is important to emphasise that in this case we are not talking about our current linear shows, but only about special content being prepared for this platform”.

She added that its content will be extremely wide, from self-produced and purchased fiction to documentaries and reality.

“We will offer three packages within RTL+, two of which are currently known to the public as RTL Most and RTL Most+. The function of RTL Most that allows anyone to review part of our linear content for a short period of time after registration remains, as well as the function provided by RTL Most+, which is currently available to almost all linear subscribers. By entering the streaming market, we will be the first in the same way as when we created AVOD (RTL Most) and BVOD products (RTL Most+) ahead of everyone else. With the introduction of RTL+, we arrive at a new stage in this digital evolution”.

Broadband TV News notes that both RTL and its closest competitor TV2 both celebrate their 25th anniversaries this autumn. They were the first national commercial TV stations to launch in Hungary.
