Sky Stream launches in the UK

The end of the dish has edged a step close with the launch of Sky Stream.

One year after the launch of the Sky Glass integrated TV, Sky Stream has been released in the UK, offering subscribers some 150 channels, on demand and streaming services. A basic package to Sky and Netflix costs £26 a month.

Apple TV+, Amazon Prime, Disney+, BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All4, YouTube, Discovery+, Peacock, Paramount+ and Fiit are also included.

Sky Stream delivers content over Wi-Fi to any TV with a form factor that means the device can be held in the palm of a hand. It uses the same UI as the Sky Glass product including voice control.

A flexible 31-day rolling contract that can be cancelled at any time for £29 a month, or an 18-month contract for £26 a month, both of which include Sky Ultimate TV & Netflix Basic. Subscribers can also add additional packs and services including Sky Cinema, Sky Sports, BT Sport and UHD & Dolby Atmos. There is also a £39 set-up fee.

A minimum broadband speed of 10 Mbps is recommended. Sky is committed to using the SES-Astra satellite system until at least 2027, and although Sky Stream is a major product launch there are no further indications that Sky might be moving away from satellite completely.
