Full-service provider Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GTT) has extended its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network to 100,000 homes, the company claimed at a press conference.
The event was attended by Prime Minister Mark Phillips, who attributed the liberalisation of the telecommunications sector for ‘creating the impetus’ for development and growth in the market.
The PM, who also holds the ministerial portfolio for telecommunications, was quoted as saying: ‘Government is happy to receive the announcement of the extensive fibre rollout efforts conducted by GTT to ensure the reliable connectivity of Guyanese while strengthening the communities they serve and fostering innovation within the telecommunications sector of Guyana …This show of initiative and genuine consideration for the needs of our people aligns perfectly with our Government’s commitment to modernising Guyana’s infrastructure, including its utility services, to support a flourishing economy.’
