Bharti Airtel users enjoyed the best quality of service on 4G networks with the fastest download speeds, while Reliance Jio had the best coverage, according to an OpenSignal report.
Users on Airtel clocked 13.6 Mbps download speeds, marginally faster than Vodafone Idea and Reliance Jio by 0.3-0.6 Mbps, but a whopping 10.6 Mbps faster than government-run BSNL, according to OpenSignal's mobile network experience report for June to August.
Airtel delivered a superior experience in streaming videos, multiplayer gaming, and OTT voice services, as compared to the other 4G network providers.
Users on Reliance Jio, however were able to spend the highest proportion of time, at 99.4%.
"Jio also wins the 4G Coverage Experience award, as Jio users connected to 4G in the largest proportion of locations visited by Indian users — 95 of 100 locations. Airtel places second across all three categories, followed by Vi and BSNL," the report said.
Vodafone Idea had the best upload speeds on its 4G network.
"Vi users observed the fastest overall upload speeds across India, averaging 4.7 Mbps — 0.5-0.7 Mbps faster than Airtel and Jio," the report added.
BSNL had the slowest upload speeds at 1.1 Mbps, the report found.
"It’s very clear that a two-horse race exists between Airtel and Jio when it comes to the mobile network experience in India," the report said.
