Denmark’s Nuuday launches TV and streaming service YouSee Play

Danish service provider Nuuday, formerly part of telco TDC, is launching a new combined TV and streaming offering, YouSee Play.

The service allows users to put together their own packages and replace services on an ongoing basis, as is the case with the existing Bland Selv TV offering.

Nuuday said it was launching the service in response to changing consumer behaviour and noted that over halfof Danish households now combine TV packages with streaming offering, resulting in duplication and overpayment.

The service provider claims to be the only Danish operator with all five leading streaming services in the country on its platform – Netflix, Viaplay, TV2 Play, HBO Max and Disney+.

It said its aggregated offering would. Enable users to see all their streaming subscriptions in one place and enable them to drop and add services on an ongoing basis more easily.

Nuuday said that YouSee Play will bring more transparency to the individual viewer. YouSee Play customers will also be able to opt out of taking a TV set-top if they prefer to watch TV and streaming services via the YouSee app.

YouSee Play will be available from the end of September to individual subscribers. However, antenna and housing association customers will have to wait longer for the service.

“With YouSee Play, we help Danish households navigate the jungle of streaming services, so that the content you have access to today does not have to be the same as tomorrow. We have a free choice of the entertainment shelf, and we are the only Danish provider to offer all five leading streaming services, which you can easily replace or add. Instead of subscribing to many different streaming services, you can now collect all in one place with YouSee Play at an attractive price,” said Christian Morgan, CEO of YouSee.

“We now offer an entertainment product that reflects the needs of the individual household to a much greater extent, so that members of the household have full freedom of choice at an attractive price and only pay for what they want to see. If for example they are not into sports, we now make it possible to avoid paying for expensive sports content that they don’t actually watch. YouSee Play is also an offer for those who want to free themselves from the TV box and have a fully digital consumption through apps, so that you can watch your favourite content whenever and wherever you want.”
