Telekom Deutschland, the domestic fixed and mobile unit of Deutsche Telekom (DT), says it has expanded the capacity and coverage of its mobile network at 1,104 locations nationwide in the last five weeks.
This total includes 72 new locations with 5G coverage and 285 new 4G sites, while the firm increased LTE capacity at 747 locations. Telekom reports that 92% of the population are now covered by 5G services, with more than 2,000 locations now accessing the 3.5GHz band, and 99% of German households can connect to LTE services. In total, Telekom says that over 100,000 mobile phone antennas are now transmitting at more than 34,000 locations nationwide on various frequencies on its network.
