Giganet inks backhual deal with Neos Networks UK

British ISP Giganet, which is rolling out its own fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) network with a focus on poorly-served part of Dorset, Hampshire, West Sussex and Wiltshire, has signed a new agreement with dark fibre operator Neos Networks to secure backhaul and data centre connectivity for its infrastructure deployment.

With Giganet ultimately aiming to reach around 300,000 premises across the South of England with its network, ISPreview reports that the agreement with Neos Networks will provide Giganet with the local connectivity required to carry traffic to data centres and across its national network. In addition, it has been claimed the network expansion project will see Neos Networks support Giganet in delivering a more than tenfold capacity increase.

Commenting on the matter, Giganet’s chief technology officer Matthew Skipsey said: ‘Neos Networks rose to the challenge of providing us with resilient and high capacity backhaul circuits across a wide range of exchanges as well as our core data centres … Using Neos Networks, we have been able to secure connectivity to our points of presence faster than expected, initially enabling each of our first four regional rings with resilient 100Gbps backhaul. This means our south coast rollout is progressing at pace.’
