Telecom Namibia (TN) is inviting pre-paid mobile customers to register their SIMs before a mandatory national registration exercise kicks off next year. TN’s pre-paid customers can now complete the process at any of the company’s stores nationwide or through an approved reseller, using a valid ID card, driving licence or voter’s card and proof of residence.
Following the approval of new regulations in March 2021, the Communication Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) announced earlier this year that a mandatory SIM registration exercise will begin on 1 January 2023, with operators required to register all existing customers within twelve months of that date and all new subscriptions within three months of the date of sale, following which any unregistered SIMs will be deactivated.
