Dhofar Governor’s Office to hold digital week for varsity students, jobseekers

Salalah – The Dhofar Governor’s Office will launch Dhofar Digital Week to mark Muscat being named Arab Digital Capital for 2022.

In a statement, Dhofar Governor’s Office said the initiative targets university students and jobseekers. The digital week will include a number of activities, including promotion of artificial intelligence and Internet of Things for a two-day period starting August 28 at Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment.

The digital week will also include a 3D printing training programme from August 28 to September 1 at the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Administration Hall in Salalah.

Muscat was named Arab Digital Capital for the year 2022 during the 25th session of the Arab ICT Ministers Councils held on December 25, 2021.

Oman has taken great strides to set up a digital society and create modern ICT facilities for all economic and social sectors in response to the requirements of sustainable development. Several promising national ICT initiatives and projects have been implemented based on the pillars and targets of Oman Vision 2020.

Owing to the importance of this vital sector, the sultanate – within the strategic directions of Oman Vision 2040 – has placed communications and information technology among the priorities of its economic and social growth strategies. This is with the objective of creating a diversified and sustainable economy based on technology, knowledge and innovation, with integrated and competitive frameworks, accommodating industrial developments and achieving financial sustainability.
