Vodafone Germany has revealed that it is accelerating the expansion of 5G technology along the country’s waterways, while the LTE network is also being enhanced in order to close coverage gaps and increase mobile data bandwidths.
The firm now supplies 99% of the economically important seaports and waterways in Germany with mobile communications, with more than 1,400 mobile sites equipped with 5G technology (more than two-thirds of waterways), of which 440 locations are equipped with 5G Standalone (5G SA). A further 700 construction projects are planned along the waterways by mid-2023.
