Amazon has launched its free, ad-financed streaming service Freevee in Germany.
“We are offering users a service that they would typically expect to find behind a paywall,” an Amazon spokesman told German news agency dpa, adding that the line-up will be a mix of original productions, acquired movies and series and, in future, linear TV channels.
After the US and the UK, Germany is the third country in which Amazon launches Freevee; Austria is to follow.
The offer, formerly known as IMDb TV, complements streaming service Amazon Prime Video, for which an Amazon Prime subscription is required.
