The performance of Disney+ in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) in the first few days following its launch across the region has exceeded expectations.
Speaking to Wirtualne Media, Kakhaber Abashidze, country manager and media head, The Walt Disney Company Russia & CIS and Central and Eastern Europe, added that “this is a clear proof of how extremely attractive Disney+ is in the eyes of our fans and viewers who have waited a long time for its launch”.
Abashidze was questioned specifically about Poland, where, as previously reported by Broadband TV News, Disney+ attained 1.9 million viewers in its first week.
In his view, the country will have a major role to play in the streaming service achieving its target of 230-260 million subscribers globally by the end of fiscal 2024.
Abashidze also said that he felt that Groupa Polsat Plus was the right company to partner with in a competitive market such as Poland.
Furthermore, he revealed that Disney has no intention of closing any of its linear channels in Poland and is in fact working on new projects.
