Estonia’s Jupiter goes on hybrid TV

The Estonian public broadcaster ERR’s web channel Jupiter can now also be received terrestrially thanks to Levira’s hybrid TV.

Commenting on the development, Toomas Luhats, member of the board of ERR, said: “Thanks to the hybrid TV solution, Jupiter’s versatile and interesting content will be available to an even larger number of Estonians. Now you can watch Jupiter on the big screen anywhere you can watch TV on the air and there is an internet connection”.

To watch Jupiter hybrid TV requires an outdoor or indoor antenna, along with a TV with hybrid TV capability and an internet connection.

According to a survey by Värske Turu-tutkimusute, there are 207,000 viewers of digital broadcasting with an antenna in Estonia. Of these, 122,000 are viewers of the newer HD format.

Veiko Sepp, member of the management board of Levira, added: “Most of the TVs currently on sale are already equipped with the HbbTV function. Televisions with hybrid TV capability have also been purchased during the last five years”.

In addition to Jupiter, hybrid TV allows viewers to watch the channels ETV, ETV2 and ETV +, series and news, as well as additional channels.
