Internet users in Egypt increased by 5% over the last year, recording millions users, according to the Egyptian Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) report which reviews social media users in Egypt.
The latest report shows statistics and data regarding social media users in 2022.
The report noted that the number of social media users in Egypt reached in January 2022 to more than 51 million users with a 5% increase compared to 2021.
Nearly, 63% of Egyptian internet users pay for any form of digital content.
According to IDSC’s report, YouTube users in Egypt reached to 46.3 mn, while Facebook users jumped to 44.7 million, Instagram users 16 million, and Messenger users 34.6 million.
In January 2021, there were 59.19 million internet users in Egypt.The number of internet users in Egypt increased by 4.5 million (+8.1%) between 2020 and 2021. Internet penetration in Egypt stood at 57.3% in January 2021.
In a previous report, IDSC said that Egypt has the highest broadband speed across Africa, noting that there has been an increase in the use of mobile Internet services in Egypt by 68% in light of the increase in the number of mobile Internet users by 11 million users during the holy month of Ramadan.
The report also showed an increase in the use of fixed Internet services by 39% in light of the increase in the number of fixed Internet users by 980 thousand users.
Moreover, the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority noted that the average of highest daily used activities is 3.5 million hours per day of short entertainment videos posted.
