CG Net has expanded its fibre broadband service outside the Kathmandu valley for the first time, reports Nepalitelecom.com. Following the launch of its 120Mbps residential packages in the capital in June 2021, the operator has now extended coverage to four additional cities, namely Hetauda, Nawalpur, Butwal and Bhairawaha, with further locations set to follow soon.
The ISP, a subsidiary of Chaudhary Group, shook up Nepal’s fixed broadband market last year with the launch of its aggressively priced benchmark 120Mbps fibre subscription plan, which prompted rival providers to respond with their own price cuts and speed upgrades, including Classic Tech’s introduction of a 1Gbps access in January this year. CG Net has since added a 50Mbps subscription plan for moderate users and is set to launch IPTV/OTT services through a partnership with India’s Airtel.
