Bahrain-headquartered technology solution provider Kalaam Telecom has announced the completion of its acquisition of Kuwaiti ISP and ICT services company Zajil International Telecom Co (KSCC).
This acquisition, says Kalaam, transforms it into a one-stop digital solution provider for enterprises and makes it one of the top three ISPs in the GCC.
Kalaam says that the newly combined entity, with a value in the region of US$100 million, can tap into diverse industry sectors like banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), government, oil & gas, retail, healthcare and education. It adds that it is now empowered to be a digital solutions partner for enterprises across cybersecurity, cloud, managed networks and ICT.
In fact as a result of this major consolidation, the company says it has been awarded an ISP license in Saudi Arabia and has earmarked more than US$10 million for expanding its presence in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, including not just investing in a next generation product and partner ecosystem but also the building of new data centres.
The acquisition strategy has also led to the launch of a new unified wholesale brand – called Kalaam Carrier Solutions – to make room for new growth opportunities in the global carrier community.
Kalaam Telecom launched in 2005 and is the first alternative licensed telecommunications provider established in Bahrain. It offers SD-WAN, IoT, cloud, security and unified communications, as well as core telecom services. In 2020 it announced the launch of the Kalaam Network Optical Transit (KNOT) cable system, which spans 1,400km across Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar.
