The Discovery-owned Polish national broadcaster TVN has upgraded the Eurosport offer in its OTT service player.pl.
Now known as Eurosport Extra, it costs PLN15 (€3.24) a month to receive and includes the channels Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2, as well as hundreds of hours of additional content only available on player.pl.
Eurosport Extra is offered in three packages, all ad-free and also giving access to player.pl’s library, which includes series, films, entertainment and kids’ programmes.
Commenting on the development, Dorota Zurkowska, the director of Eurosport in Poland and a member of the board of TVN, said: “TV channels and streaming platforms complement each other perfectly in the world of sport, and I believe that sport is about more than classic TV coverage. In Eurosport Extra, the restrictions related to the schedule time and transmission hours no longer exist. We put the power into the hands of viewers who decide for themselves how they watch the sport. Eurosport Extra users will be able to return to their favourite events, watch them on the device of their choice, use the VOD library, follow additional streams, and even choose a camera for some events. All of this as part of a larger package that also includes Player’s fantastic resources. We are developing our portfolio of rights, thanks to which Eurosport Extra users will be able to take advantage of the most comprehensive offer in Poland. On April 30, the first major sports event broadcast entirely in Player only in the Eurosport Extra package, the Speedway Grand Prix, will begin”.
