To strengthen digital services to corporate circles, Indonesian telecom major PT XL Axiata Tbk has acquired a 51% stake in local service provider PT Hipernet Indodata (Hypernet), which is a provider of managed services for telecommunications and information technology.
Axiata said in a press release that it has signed a Conditional Share Purchase Agreement with Bridgefield Prime Investments Pte. Ltd., Ameisys Global Technologies Pte. Ltd., PT Mitra Indo Asia, and PT Magna Karya Archipelago, as shareholders of PT Hipernet Indodata.
XL Axiata's President Director & CEO, Dian Siswarini, said, “The era of digitalisation in all industrial sectors is an opportunity for XL Axiata to continue to develop its business in corporate services. Given PT Hipernet Indodata's competence and experience, the acquisition of PT Hipernet Indodata shares is a strategic choice to strengthen this corporate service business line."
According to the company, Hipernet Indodata is a managed service provider in the field of information and technology that is completely customisable to customer needs. The services include providing and managing information and technology resources, both software and hardware, as well as the necessary human resources, as well as managing customer-owned resources, the release said.
"Internet management, WiFi, cloud, professional information technology services, and other business application services are among the technology and information services available. So far, Hipernet has served customers with corporate needs in various fields, including hospitality, tourism, health, finance, to retail," the release noted.
This share acquisition aims to increase the company's competitiveness to offer telecommunication products and service solutions to the corporate/enterprise market.
Currently, XL Axiata serves more than 57.9 million customers, which is strengthened by more than 162000 BTS, including more than 77000 4G BTS. The 4G LTE network of XL Axiata is also expanding, with more than 458 cities/districts in various areas of Indonesia being covered.
