The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) and the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications (MTT) have signed a memorandum of understanding for the delivery of identity cards to citizens and residents processed after conducting the service through the National portal Bahrain.bh.
The three-year agreement aims to improve government ID card services customer experience by simplifying and speeding up procedures.
The agreement was signed by iGA Chief Executive Mohammed Ali Al Qaed and Assistant Undersecretary for Bahrain Post Shaikh Bader bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.
Al Qaed said that the renewal of the agreement with Bahrain Post is in line with the iGA’s efforts to enhance cooperation and partnerships with both the public and private sectors, to improve the quality of government services offered to citizens and residents and raise customer satisfaction.
The iGA has been focused on automating most of its operations and services, and providing them electronically, with customers now able to conduct ID card transactions online through the National Portal and have them delivered to their homes, eliminating the need for service center visits.
This was achieved through the efforts of the iGA’s team with the cooperation of other government entities, he said.
Al-Qaed added that the move towards automation of ID card services comes with the support of the Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa who has always guided the iGA to ensure that government services are accessible to all segments of society through online channels.
"We are pleased to sign this agreement with the iGA, to help achieve Bahrain Post’s high level objectives of strengthening cooperation with the Kingdom's ministries and government agencies, raising the quality of services, and identifying areas for further joint projects that serve the public," Shaikh Bader said.
"This is in line with the Kingdom’s economic vision, which is aimed at enhancing the overall level of quality and excellence and supporting Bahrain’s various economic activities.
The fruitful partnership with the iGA, which supports the electronic delivery of ID cards through Bahrain Post’s express mail service, is being carried out by post offices located in all governorates, he added.
The MoU renews the partnership between the iGA and Bahrain Post, initially signed in 2015 and renewed in 2018.
The aim is to enhance cooperation between the two parties and offer the service of postal delivery of ID cards to addresses specified by beneficiaries, following their electronic processing via the National Portal, bahrain.bh.
The automated service saves citizens and residents, time, effort and money. The system is able to process multiple requests at the same time and in the event that the delivery item cannot be received by its owners, they will be notified to consult the post office to receive it.
