Mobile network operator (MNO) XL Axiata is continuing to improve its 4G LTE network, announcing that it has recently completed work to further densify its infrastructure in the Riau Islands Province, including Batam and Bintan.
According to IndoTelko, the network strengthening work is in support of the government’s ‘Travel Bubble Batam Bintan’ project.
The MNO’s 4G network now reaches at least 121 villages and 24 sub-districts in the two aforementioned areas, with work set to continue in 2022 to add a further 25 or so base transceiver stations (BTS) in Batam and Bintan.
XL claims to have roughly 303,000 subscriptions in Batam and Bintan, out of a total of around 400,000 throughout the Riau Archipelago.
