HD+ IP launches on Samsung TVs

Samsung smart TVs will be able to receive German TV platform HD+ via the internet in addition to the Astra satellite system (19.2° East) from mid-2022.

HD+ IP is to be integrated in the 2022 models via a software update. After Panasonic, Samsung is the second TV set manufacturer to offer HD+ IP.

The streaming version of HD+ comprises more than 80 public and commercial channels in HD quality, interactive add-on functions and catch-up TV. Astra households are, however, recommended to receive HD+ via satellite as they can access the Ultra HD channels this way.

“Particularly in urban environments, where satellite TV is traditionally less widespread, the expansion of the cooperation with Samsung for HD+ IP will allow a growing number of users to experience the compelling TV experience of HD+,” said Andreas Schulz, Head of Product Management at HD+. “The integration of HD+ into TV sets for reception via satellite and now also via IP eliminates the entry barriers for enjoying HDTV and using additional non-linear services via TV.”
