Nepal Telecom (NT) has marked its 18th anniversary by announcing the commercial launch of VoLTE services, enabling customers with a compatible handset to enjoy high definition voice calling over its 4G network and simultaneous use of voice and high speed data services. Following the introduction of a trial service in May last year, the operator claims to have already attracted 160,000 subscriptions.
Launched in Kathmandu and Pokhara in January 2017, NT’s LTE network footprint has since been extended to 720 local levels across all 77 districts of the country. According to the Nepal Telecommunication Authority’s latest figures, NT’s subscription base stood at 21.97 million at mid-December 2021, including 8.17 million LTE subscriptions.
