British pure fibre provider CityFibre has made its network in Gloucester available to end-users, with the infrastructure initially available in the Quedgeley area of the city, as well as parts of Podsmead, Tuffley and Hardwicke.
According to the operator, the switching of services in these areas marked ‘another milestone in CityFibre’s GBP31 million [USD42 million] project, which aims to futureproof Gloucester by ensuring its network infrastructure is able to support its residents and businesses in an increasingly digital world’.
In a press release regarding the network development, CityFibre said that, with Kire Group delivering the construction programme in Gloucester on its behalf, it expects the build to be ‘substantially completed’ in the city by 2024.
