Online education returns for small kids in Oman

Classes 1-4 in schools of the Sultanate of Oman will revert to online learning on Sunday for four weeks following the decision of the decision of the Supreme Committee last week.

The Supreme Committee has warned that there has been a considerable surge in cases of community-based infection as well as a rise in related hospitalization cases in the country.

As of Thursday, the number of hospital inpatients went up to 65, including six in the Intensive Care Units (ICUs).

The primary healthcare centers in all governorates have registered an increase in cases, especially in the age group of 5-12 and also among the unvaccinated segments.

All Indian schools in the Sultanate of Oman have decided to temporarily return to online education with the situation to be reviewed at the end of the month.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has said that several hotel establishments in the country continue to flout Covid-19 heath protocols, which were announced considering the safety of guests and employees.

Over 10 hotel establishments were booked by the ministry for various types of violations, and these include Grand Hyatt Muscat Hotel, Al Hatalli Hotel, Al Reem Hotel, Gulf Beach Hotel, Rozana Hotel, Grand Inn Hotel, Al Falaj Hotel, Al Rusayl Hotel, The White Nile Hotel, Caesar Hotel, and Al-Marsa Hotel.

The ministry warned all hotel and tourist establishments that legal measures would include the closure of the facility.

The Supreme Committee had laid emphasis on the commitment of all to endorsed precautionary measures. It stresses the need to stick to the 50 per cent maximum occupancy rate in establishments allowed to operate, particularly those frequented by a large number of people, like commercial complexes, exhibitions, conferences, weddings, and sports halls.

The establishments are also required to demand vaccination proof from visitors, observe the physical distance, and demand that the visitors wear face masks.

The Ministry of Health has announced that it has approved giving the third / booster dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine for those in the target groups.
