Claro Brasil activated its 2.3GHz-powered 5G network in Brasilia on 21 December 2021. According to TeleTime, the initial launch took place in the Asa Norte neighbourhood, with the network supporting both Standalone (SA) and Non Standalone (NSA) 5G services. The following day Claro reportedly extended 5G connectivity to Itaim Bibi and Vila Nova Conceicao in Sao Paulo.
TeleTime quoted Claro executive Paulo Cesar Teixeira as saying: ‘[2.3GHz] is wildcard spectrum, which can be used for both 5G and 4.5G. It has high transmission capacity and adapts very well to the reality of capital cities.’
