Slovak operators Swan and 4ka merged on New Year Eve

Slovak operators Swan and Swan Mobile (4ka) merged to create a full-fledged telecommunications operator with an offer of convergent, fixed, and mobile services.

According to a company release, the new operator will operate under the Swan company name, and provide convergent fixed and mobile services.

Mobile and fixed services for B2C customers will be provided under the 4ka brand, while services for corporate customers will be provided under the Swan brand. The new operator will continue expanding its 5G network, with services scheduled to launch in Trnava and Nitra over the coming few months.

"We have integrated smaller players over the last decade and three years ago, by merging the two largest alternative operators - Benestra and Swan, we created a relevant Slovak competitor to the big three multinational telecommunications operators. Today, it is an equally important operation that will allow us to be an even stronger player. We are also joining our sister telecommunications operators Swan and Swan Mobile due to the possibility of gradually creating and offering packages of fixed and mobile services, ” said Juraj Ondriš, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Swan.

"We have the ambition to become the third national operator in Slovakia with a convergent offer next year. Another important task before us is to build a 5G network, which we, by the way, in cooperation with Swan and Swan Mobile, was the first in Slovakia to put into commercial operation. In a few months, we will start providing services in the fifth-generation network, in addition to Bratislava, also in Trnava and Nitra," added Roman Vavrík, who has previously headed Swan and will also lead the unified operator as CEO.
