stc supports special needs community in collaboration with Café 312

Kuwait Telecommunications Company – stc, a world-class digital leader providing innovative services and platforms to customers, enabling the digital transformation in Kuwait, visited Café 312, Kuwait's first cafe of its kind run by employees with special needs, in support of the local special needs community and coinciding with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities during the month of December.

stc released a statement highlighting that this step falls in line with the Company’s corporate social responsibility strategy and builds on the “Weyak” initiative which was launched earlier this year to support local businesses. The initiative primarily focused on emphasizing stc’s stand in supporting the Kuwaiti society through various humanitarian and community-based activities, as well as the successful and long-standing relationships the Company has fostered with local SMEs.

On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, stc in collaboration with Café 312 offered its customers a free coffee drink for the day. stc also hosted founder and partner of Café 312, Tarek Abdin, to elaborate more on the first-of-its-kind initiative in support of the special need community in an interview broadcasted on stc’s social media channels.

On behalf of stc, Danah AlJasem, General Manager of Corporate Communications, said, “This initiative aimed to raise awareness and promote the rights of persons with special needs as they fulfill their roles as active contributors to the community, representing a key and important pillar in our society. We also strive, through this initiative, to support SMEs in their unique and empowering business ventures with access to our around the clock support services to streamline and enhance their operations. One of our primary objectives is to provide our corporate customers with the means to enable their digital transformation strategies effectively to reach their corporate goals.”

AlJasem added, “This initiative builds on the values that stc holds in implementing its strategy to support SMEs. We were keen to connect with companies while simultaneously implementing our CSR agenda, believing in the important role the private sector plays in the community. Through our various initiatives we believe that we can contribute in positively impacting the local business, as well as the Kuwaiti society, in line with the Kuwaiti 2035 vision.”

AlJasem concluded, “In addition to the objective of raising awareness, stc is keen to collaborate and organize community driven events to enhance its pioneering role in the market and back the Kuwaiti society. This approach runs parallel to the key pillars identified under stc’s extensive CSR framework.”

The concept behind the campaign was to complement the community-based initiative “Weyak” that was launched by stc to enable the digital transformation journey of local SMEs and start-ups through various offering. “Weyak” also aimed to mitigate the challenges business owners are facing in the gradual return to normal due to the pandemic.

stc said in its statement, “Through the "Weyak" initiative, the Company will grant participating SMEs and start-ups with the opportunity to promote their products and services. This includes showcasing their offerings through a series of organized events and activities, including stc’s social media channels.”

stc added that it will spare no effort in continuing its various health and awareness campaigns by collaborating with institutions that help spread awareness on important causes that benefit the Kuwaiti society.
